The Eleventh Annual Yarchei Kallah:

Eleventh International Retreat on Jewish Medical Ethics
Jerusalem Center for Research: Medicine and Halacha
Jerusalem, Israel

Join us from August 19 - August 26, 2008 in Jerusalem in a stimulating Yeshiva environment of chevruta (partner) learning and shiurim (lectures). YK2008 will take place in the comfortably air-conditioned Beit Midrash of Boys Town in the Bayit Vegan neighborhood of Jerusalem.

Experienced and enthusiastic talmidei chachamim will be paired with the participants for the entire week. And as in the previous Yarchei Kallah of 1998, 1999, 2000, and 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 a distinguished and highly learned rostrum of rabbinical authorities will deliver in-depth analyses of current issues in Jewish medical ethics.

The topics for this year's program are tentatively planned to include the laws of Pikuah Nefesh on Shabbat and the permissibility of a physician causing harm to the public by his practicing medicine, for example by opening a medical clinic in an apartment building thereby disturbing the neighbors, or by opening a contagious disease clinic in a population area.
